Welcome to Lawhow.in ("Platform", "we", "us", or "our").
These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") apply to your use of the website
www.lawhow.in and the services provided, including XlatePro document
translation ("Services").
LawHow is a partnership firm registered in India with its principal place of
business/registered office in Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The Platform and Services may be
operated from anywhere in India.
By accessing, browsing, registering, or using Lawhow.in or any XlatePro services (including
submitting documents for translation), you agree to these Terms in full. If you do not
agree, do not use the Platform or Services.
1. Our Role – Important Disclaimers
Lawhow.in is only an online platform that connects users with independent
lawyers and provides document translation via XlatePro.
- Legal consultations: We only connect you with verified independent
lawyers. All legal advice, services, or work is provided directly by the lawyer. We do
not give legal advice, represent anyone, or handle payments for consultations. You
negotiate and pay lawyers directly. We have no responsibility for any lawyer's services,
advice, results, or actions.
- XlatePro translation: This is our service. Translations are done on a
best-effort basis. We do not guarantee perfect accuracy, acceptance by courts/offices,
or suitability for any purpose.
- No lawyer-client relationship exists with LawHow. Confidentiality applies only between
you and the lawyer (per Bar Council rules).
2. Who Can Use the Platform
You must be 18+ years old and able to enter contracts under Indian law.
3. Accounts and Verification
- Keep your account details secure.
- Lawyers are verified (e.g., Bar Council check), but you should verify them yourself.
4. XlatePro Document Translation – Key Rules
- Upload your document, choose languages, and pay the displayed fee (via our payment
gateway).
- We process and send the translated document by email (or dashboard download).
- Payment is only for XlatePro (we do not collect money for lawyer consultations).
5. Refund Policy (Only for XlatePro)
- No refunds once we process your document and share the translation via
email or download.
- If there is a system failure preventing delivery:
- We will try one more time to process and send it.
- If still unsuccessful after this attempt and our team checks, we will issue a
full refund within 7 working days to your original payment
method.
- No refunds for wrong uploads, wrong language choice, or dissatisfaction after receiving
the translation.
6. Your Responsibilities
- Do not upload illegal, harmful, or infringing content.
- Do not misuse the Platform (e.g., scraping, impersonation).
- Lawyers must follow Bar Council of India rules.
7. Intellectual Property
All content on Lawhow.in belongs to us or our licensors. You may not copy or use it without
permission.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent allowed by Indian law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, special, or consequential losses (e.g., lost
profits, bad legal outcomes, translation issues).
- We have no liability for lawyers' services or for translation accuracy after delivery.
- Our total liability (if any) is limited to the amount you paid us for the specific
XlatePro service in the last 12 months.
- We are not liable for things beyond our control (e.g., internet issues, third-party
actions).
- We are not responsible for fraud, death, personal injury caused by our gross negligence,
or other matters that Indian law does not allow us to exclude.
9. Indemnity
You will cover us for any losses, claims, or costs from your breach of these Terms or misuse
of the Services.
10. Changes and Termination
We can change these Terms anytime (continued use means acceptance). We can suspend or end
your access if needed.
11. Arbitration
All disputes, differences, or claims arising out of or in connection with these Terms, or the
breach, termination, or invalidity thereof, shall be settled by arbitration
under the Arbitration and Conciliation Act, 1996, and the rules made
thereunder, as amended from time to time.
- The seat and venue of arbitration shall be New Delhi,
India.
- The arbitration shall be conducted by a Sole Arbitrator (or a panel of
three arbitrators, if mutually agreed), to be appointed by mutual consent of the
parties.
- The courts at New Delhi shall have exclusive jurisdiction over any
matter related to the arbitration or enforcement of any award.
- The language of arbitration shall be English.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Indian law.
Subject to the arbitration clause above, the courts at New Delhi, India
shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
